my holy grail skincare routine | how I healed my severe acne scarring, texture & hyperpigmentation

Here are my holy grail skincare products that have healed my scarring, dark spots and texture from years of hormonal cystic acne. This is how I’ve lightened my hyperpigmentation to even out my skin tone and achieve the look of healthy glowing skin. Open for links & timestamps!

I recently fell into a youtube skincare rabbit hole and learned so much about active ingredients like arbutin, niacinamide, AHA BHA PHAs, centella extract, and SPF and how important they are if you’re trying to even out your skin tone, texture, reduce redness/inflammation, and target skin issues like hyperpigmentation, acne scars, dark spots, and rough uneven texture. These are the products that I’ve seen make the biggest difference in my skin, and I cannot live without them. They’re mostly affordable korean skincare products, so I hope this can help if you’ve been looking to heal your skin from severe acne scarring like me. I never had money for expensive skin treatments, laser, or facials and I think it’s so important to know that there are amazing products out there that can help that don’t cos hundreds of dollars. Hope you enjoy x

TIPS //

01 double cleanse
• use a cleansing balm or oil that gently breaks down your makeup, sunscreen, etc
• don’t use makeup wipes, micellar water, or products that take some rubbing to work

02 do your research on what active ingredients will best suit your skin issues & needs

03 unlearn the notion of ‘drying out your acne’
• marketing has taught us to think the salicylic acids of skincare will solve our acne issues
• in reality they end up stripping our skin, causing inflammation, redness, and more sebum/oils
• it’s important to keep your skin (crazy breakouts or not) moisturized and hydrated

04 focus instead on soothing redness & inflammation
• this reduces the look of ‘bad’ acne overall, both pigment and texture wise

05 wear spf every single day
• the sun will keep your spots dark, if not darken them more
• don’t cancel out all the other work you’re doing to heal your skin by skipping sunscreen!

I use natural ingredients that are proven to work and synthetic ingredients that are proven to work. I have no preference. And as far as lifestyle, I was once a well-hydrated vegan who worked out daily and used all natural products and still had horrible acne. Lifestyle may improve some people's skin but it's not a cure all. I do recommend healthy living but the only thing that solves my acne is active ingredients. I use things like aloe vera, jojoba, clay for specific purposes but they never fixed the acne like tretinoin, acids, and vitamin serums do. Each has their place. I'm so tired of being shamed for not just washing my face with water and slapping on coconut oil and having perfect skin. Those people have genetics on their side.

Hi I have oily skin and I am in pain because of my acne it’s not as bad as other people but I do have a good amount of acne. Ik you are not a dermatologist but I. Annoy afford to go to one. I have been getting bad acne on my jawline and lower part of the face like nose cheeks and chin some behind the ear. My skin care is not great really only cerave cleanser and neutrogina gel moisturizer. And sunscreen stick. Ik this skin care might cost like 100 for all the products I need but I wonder if you recomend this skin care routine for someone like me .

about the cosrx centella blemish cream: it is a SPOT TREATMENT CREAM. the advertising must be confusing bc of the name but cosrx introduced this as a spot treatment cream. so pls don't put it all over your face 🙁

I have struggled with cystic acne for years. My dermatologist prescribed Blemish Dermalm d Serum for me before it was over the counter. I use it twice daily and my skin is 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻. I rub about a dime size over my entire face both morning and night after cleansing. (If just starting spread it out and start with once a day 2/3 times a week at first as it can be drying to skin in the beginning).
