    The first color must be completely dry before you apply the darker color. Any clear polish will work but the thinner it is, the better. Make sure you don't wait longer than a minute from applying the dark color to adding the clear dots. If it's not done quick enough it won't show up. :]

    I tried the last method but the base color (gold) didn't show through. I used a brown as the top color, same colors I use for my leopard print. Does the 1st color have to be dry and can you use any clear polish for the dots, or does it have to be a base coat?
