    My grandmother is a hippie so she had one for over 10 years. You just keep wrapping it as your hair grows and add hair to it when it thins out and you can have it for a very very long time

    I know this was made 5 years ago but a tip for anyone watching: if you leave the threads at the top longer than you can fold it down and include it into the wrap, so you don't have fly-away threads and you can trim it a few inches away from the initial knot hiding the ends from the knot.
